Teaching at public schools is a regulated profession managed by the KMK (Kultusministerkonferenz — Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education). Each German state (Bundesland) has its own requirements. Indian B.Ed. / M.Ed. degrees are assessed for equivalency with German Lehramtsstudium (teaching degree). The process compares subject knowledge, pedagogical training, and practical teaching hours.

- 4If gaps identified: Anpassungsmaßnahme (adaptation period of supervised teaching) or Eignungsprüfung (aptitude test)
- 5Reach C1 German, required for teaching at public schools; B2 accepted at many private/international schools
- 6Once recognised: eligible for full teacher employment (Verbeamtung / civil servant status at public schools)
